Transitions
Reception Students
Prior to students beginning school, the school will hold a number of orientation (transition) days in the preceding term.
The first of these days includes a tour of the school and a general meeting of parents with the Principal.
On the first transition visit Reception students will participate in the class they will be joining up until recess time and then they will be picked up by parents. On the second transition visit Reception students will participate in the class they will be joining up until lunch time and then they will be picked up by parents. On the third and any further days, Reception students will stay with their class for the whole day.
Year Seven Transitions into High School
As the year sevens prepare to graduate and move on to high school, students may attend orientation visits to their secondary school.
Students from St. Joseph’s School successfully move on to attend DECS High Schools after year seven, due to the absence of a Catholic High School in the Riverland region, with a small number seeking boarding school in Adelaide in senior school years.
